A Safety Challenge organised by the Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) proved a great success, with hundreds of managers, supervisors and workers participating across the UK.
The online quiz put nearly 1,000 workers through their paces, in order to confirm their understanding of issues surrounding safety in using fork lift trucks. Mentor Training helped to develop the quiz. In some organisations, all employees were asked to participate. Certificates were awarded to anyone who scored over 85%.
The Chief Executive of FLTA, Peter Harvey MBE, stated that the FLTA were ‘overwhelmed by the tremendous number’ of participants, and that they were equally impressed by the understanding of basic fork lift truck safety shown by workers across the UK.
All the results of the quiz will inform the FLTA as to any gaps in worker knowledge with regards to fork lift safety. This information can then be used to tailor future safety resources and events.
Mr. Harvey went on to state that it is imperative that everyone working with fork lift trucks remembers that fork lift truck safety is an evolving process, one which requires vigilance and continuous education.
